4th August 2017
Gamlingay First School is now officially a full primary school.
However, the name will remain for one more year until the school moves to its new home in September 2018
Two new temporary classrooms have been added to the Green End site to accommodate pupils in Years 5 and 6.
Meanwhile planning permission will be submitted this term to allow alterations to the current Gamlingay Village College site to make it suitable for the primary school.
The work, which will include the construction of a new wing and other improvements to accommodate youngsters aged from 4-11, is due to be ready as a primary school to open in September 2018.
Stephen Munday, Chief Executive of The Cam Academy Trust, which Gamlingay First School joined in April last year, said: “In summer 2018 the Middle School (Village College) will be formally closed and the First (now Primary) School will relocate to a new permanent base on the Village College site.
“There is a lot of work in all this, but the prize at the end of it is a great one. It will be an excellent school facility, providing great primary education for the Gamlingay community.”
